Sonia Gandhis Article on Khameneis Death Criticized as Vote Bank Politics by BJP Leader

New Delhi, March 4: Following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi penned an article addressing the situation. BJP senior leader RP Singh responded, stating that Gandhi’s piece is rooted in vote bank politics.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi shared his mother’s article on social media, emphasizing that when a foreign leader faces targeted killing, a lack of clear defense of sovereignty or international law raises serious doubts about India’s foreign policy direction and credibility.

Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, highlighted the need for India to stand firm on sovereignty and peace, urging a rediscovery of its moral strength during this critical global juncture.

In response to Gandhi’s article, BJP leader RP Singh remarked, “Sonia Gandhi’s article is based on vote bank politics. It is unfortunate that she is concerned about vote bank politics in India’s diplomacy. She shows no concern for the one million Indians remaining in the Middle East or for those killed in Iran’s attacks in Oman. There are 57 Islamic countries; how many supported Iran? We must prioritize our national interests over vote bank politics.”

Regarding the protests following Khamenei’s death, Singh stated that while people can protest, the fundamental understanding is that India’s stance is clear: we seek peace and a peaceful environment in the region.

He also expressed relief that Rahul Gandhi trusts the Supreme Court and lower courts, contrasting this with previous criticisms from Priyanka Vadra when the Supreme Court commented on Rahul. Ultimately, he asserted that in a democracy, the decisions made by the Supreme Court must be respected.
