Six Unique Features of the New Renault Duster That Set It Apart

Renault has launched the third-generation Duster in India, marking a strong comeback in the mid-size SUV segment. Competing against established models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the upcoming Tata Sierra, the new Duster introduces several unique features that distinguish it from its rivals. Here are six key highlights that make the new Renault Duster stand out in its segment.

1. Most Powerful Turbo-Petrol Engine in Segment

The latest Duster is now a petrol-only SUV, dropping the diesel option. It is equipped with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine (TCE-160) delivering 160 hp of power and 280 Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful turbo-petrol engine in the mid-size SUV category.

2. Advanced Strong Hybrid System

While most SUVs offer mild hybrid technology, the new Duster features a strong hybrid system. It comes with a 1.8-litre petrol engine coupled with a 1.4 kWh battery and dual electric motors. This setup is more powerful and technologically advanced than the hybrid systems found in Maruti-Toyota SUVs. The Duster can operate largely in electric mode when driving in the city.

3. Largest Boot Space in Segment

For those who enjoy long trips or family travel, the Duster offers a generous 700 litres of boot space up to the roof. The parcel tray capacity is 518 litres, making it the largest boot space available in the mid-size SUV segment.

4. Built-in Google Automotive Services

The new Duster comes with Google Automotive Services integrated, eliminating the need for a separate Android Auto connection. Users can log in directly with their Google ID and access Google Maps, Assistant, and other apps seamlessly. This feature is currently unique in the segment.

5. Wet-Clutch DCT Gearbox

Unlike competitors such as Creta and Seltos that use dry-clutch DCTs, the Duster is equipped with a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT. This gearbox offers smoother shifting, better durability, and can handle higher torque, resulting in a longer lifespan and improved driving experience.

6. 8-Speed Automatic Gearbox with Hybrid Modes

The E-Tech Hybrid variant of the Renault Duster features an 8-speed multi-mode automatic transmission with four driving modes: Electric, Hybrid, ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), and Energy Recovery. This advanced gearbox is a first in the segment and enhances overall efficiency and driving versatility.

Launch and Booking Details

The pricing details of the new Duster are expected to be announced by mid-March. Pre-bookings have already started through the Renault R-Pass platform. Deliveries for the hybrid variant will begin from April 2026, while the strong hybrid version will be delivered starting Diwali 2026.
