Kyiv, April 6 : After horrific pictures of dead bodies of civilians in Ukraine’s Bucha emerged, the town of Borodianka has also reported dozens of people missing or presumed dead. According to New York Times, as many as 200 people are missing and presumed dead under the rubble of Borodyanka, a commuter town not far from the capital, Kyiv. The Russian troops recently withdrew from the area around Borodyanka. This was one of the first places hit by the Russian airstrikes after invasion on February 24. Georgii Yerko, the acting mayor of Borodyanka said, “We think over 200 people died. But it is an assumption.” According to NYT, four apartment buildings had collapsed in the bombing and heavy fighting left more destruction for two miles along the main street. Euronews quoted Sergii Nykyforov, Ukraine’s presidential spokesman, as saying, “We are afraid that we will find something similar than that has been uncovered in Bucha. “There are some indications in the town of Borodyanka that the situation might have been even worse. But we still have to discover. “And I have to remind you that there are many other Ukrainian towns and cities still under Russian occupation and we are very worried it will be a systematic behaviour of Russian troops.” Following the withdrawal of Russian forces from the town of Bucha, fresh images revealed pictures of bodies of at least 20 civilians littering the streets. The civilians killed were found in awkward positions. While some bodies were face down the pavement, some were facing upwards with mouths open, the international media reported. RNJ
