Mumbai, March 22: The Lakmé Fashion Week, held at the Jio World Convention Centre from March 19 to March 22, concluded its final day on Sunday. This year, Khadi India showcased exclusive and stylish khadi outfits on a global platform through the Navdhara showcase.
A highlight of the event was the presence of American hip-hop singer and rapper Raja Kumari, who promoted khadi and ‘Made in India’. With her powerful voice, she captivated the audience and advocated for khadi.
Expressing her joy at participating in the show, Raja Kumari performed her song “Made in India.” She shared her excitement about presenting at the khadi fashion show and was thrilled that the audience enjoyed her performance. In a conversation, she stated, “Music and fashion are interconnected and unite the world. It is important for people to know about my fashion as well as my music. Discussing her outfit, the “Made in India” singer revealed that she wore a stylish ensemble designed by Indian fashion designer Shruti Sancheti, which featured a check pattern and incorporated khadi. The mix of khadi and silk made the outfit particularly stylish.
She emphasized the need to take pride in khadi and strive to give it recognition on a global stage. Raja Kumari believes that khadi is a beautiful and soft fabric. Initially, she had limited knowledge about khadi, but attending the event made her realize the effort involved in creating garments from this fabric.
