Chandigarh, August 23: The Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 is set to kick off on August 30 at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Chandigarh. This inaugural edition will feature six teams competing fiercely for the title.
Indian team captain Shubman Gill will lead the Fazilka Falcons. Currently in Sri Lanka, Gill expressed his enthusiasm in a message sent by his team, stating, “I am very excited to lead the Fazilka Falcons. We have a highly talented and exciting group of players. I am really looking forward to working with the team. This will be a great opportunity for all of us to learn from each other and play some good cricket.”
Gill also praised the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for organizing the league and providing a platform for young cricketers to take the next step in their careers.
He remarked, “I want to thank the Punjab Cricket Association for organizing the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League. This is a much-needed platform for Punjab’s young and talented cricketers. They will have the chance to play against good players, gain experience, and showcase their abilities. Many of them can use this tournament as a stepping stone for bigger opportunities.”
Gill is eager to share his experience with the younger members of the Fazilka Falcons team after playing at the highest level of international cricket.
He added, “It is essential for young players to trust their abilities and remain calm under pressure. I want to help them understand the game better, whether it’s about reading situations, making decisions, or handling pressure. These things come with experience. If I can share what I’ve learned, it will be a great opportunity for me as well.”
Gill concluded, “Winning the trophy will be our goal, but for me, success will also mean seeing our young players progress during the tournament.”
