Shocking Murder of 13-Year-Old Girl in Hazaribagh Linked to Black Magic Rituals

Mumbai, April 2: Authorities have made a shocking revelation in the brutal murder of a 13-year-old girl in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed under the directives of the state’s Director General of Police, has uncovered that the girl was sacrificed as part of a black magic ritual, with her mother playing a key role in the heinous act.

The Hazaribagh police have arrested three individuals: the victim’s mother, Reshmi Devi, a female practitioner of black magic known as Shanti Devi, and her accomplice, Bhim Ram. The police disclosed details during a press conference held by Hazaribagh’s Superintendent of Police, Anjani Anjan, late Wednesday night.

According to police reports, Reshmi Devi was distressed over her son’s physical and mental health issues. For nearly a year, she had been in contact with Shanti Devi, who convinced her that a “virgin girl” needed to be sacrificed for her son’s recovery. Under the influence of this superstition, Reshmi plotted her own daughter’s murder.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of March 24, during a local festival in Kusumba village. Reshmi lured her daughter to Shanti’s home, where a ritual was allegedly performed. Following this, the girl was taken to nearby bamboo thickets.

As per police accounts, under the instructions of the practitioner, Bhim Ram strangled the girl while her mother held her legs to prevent her from resisting. After the murder, the body was desecrated in the name of completing the ritual, with blood extracted from the girl’s private parts for use in a ceremony.

To divert attention from the crime, the day after the incident, Reshmi filed a false complaint against a man named Dhaneshwar Paswan, accusing him of rape and murder. The girl’s body was recovered from the bamboo thickets on March 25. Initial investigations raised suspicions, prompting the formation of the SIT on the DGP’s orders.

Using technical evidence, call detail records, and other scientific methods, the team pieced together the events leading to the murder. The arrested suspects have reportedly confessed to their crimes during interrogation. The incident has sparked outrage across Jharkhand.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has labeled this case as “Nirbhaya-2,” calling for a shutdown in Hazaribagh on March 30, which had a significant impact in the district. The Jharkhand High Court has also taken cognizance of the case, demanding responses from the state’s Home Secretary and the district’s Superintendent of Police.
