Gopalganj, March 28: A shocking incident has emerged from Gopalganj, Bihar, where two young men mysteriously went missing following a violent altercation between two groups on the night of March 14. Family members expressed fears of murder after the incident. In light of the seriousness of the situation, a police team led by SDPO Pranjal initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, several bloodstains were discovered in the vicinity of the crime scene, raising further suspicions. The entire incident reportedly took place in the Mehndia village of the Jadoipur police station area. In a significant breakthrough, police have recovered the body of one of the missing youths from the Gandak River.
The deceased has been identified as Vikas Kumar. His body was found near Khap Maksudpur village, close to the Gandak River. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem at the Model Sadar Hospital in Gopalganj, where it was later handed over to the family.
According to police reports, on March 15, 2026, information was received about bloodstains found under the Mehndia canal bridge, leading to suspicions that three individuals had been murdered and their bodies hidden. Upon receiving the information, SDPO Pranjal and Jadoipur Station Head Anil Kumar arrived at the scene for inspection.
To gather evidence, a forensic team was called in, which collected scientific evidence from the site. Based on family complaints, a case was registered at the Jadoipur police station, and an investigation commenced. Following extensive searches, the police recovered Vikas Kumar’s body from the Malahi Gandak River on March 17, which was identified by his relatives.
In a swift response, police have arrested three named suspects in the case and are conducting ongoing raids to apprehend other suspects. Reports indicate that the entire incident is linked to a romantic relationship. Preliminary investigations suggest that Vikas Kumar had an illicit relationship with a woman, which angered her family.
SDPO Pranjal stated that the suspects had systematically lured the young man. He was murdered around 9:30 PM on March 14. After the murder, the body was loaded onto a tractor and disposed of in the Gandak River to destroy evidence. However, due to police vigilance, the body was recovered, leading to the case’s resolution.
Police are continuing raids based on technical and human evidence to apprehend other individuals involved in the crime. Currently, law and order in the area is reported to be normal.
