Tirupattur, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : A disturbing incident has emerged from Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu, where a mother has been arrested after allegedly throwing her two young children into a well. The tragic discovery occurred on August 30, when the bodies of the children were found floating in a well located on the property of a former administrative officer.
Upon arriving at his field, the former officer noticed the bodies and promptly alerted the local police. Emergency services quickly responded, retrieving the decomposed remains and sending them to the government hospital in Vaniyambadi for autopsy. Authorities initiated an investigation into the grim situation.
Investigators learned that the children, aged five and two, were the sons of a man from Velichanur village in the Tiruvannamalai district. The man had been incarcerated six months earlier for involvement in sandalwood smuggling. Following his imprisonment, his wife, Shivagami, returned to her parental home.
During this time, Shivagami became acquainted with Raja, a married driver from Athipattu village, who has three children of his own. Their relationship developed into an affair, and Shivagami soon found herself pregnant again after living alone for several months.
On August 28, struggling with the fate of her two sons, she took them by bus from Jamunamarathur to Alangayam. After treating them to tea and biscuits at a local shop, she led them to the well on the former officer’s property, where she allegedly discarded them before leaving.
After a few days of wandering, Shivagami confided in Raja about the incident. Concerned about the police search for her, Raja hid her for three days before sending her back to her mother’s house.
Upon her return without the children, villagers and relatives questioned her about their whereabouts. Her inconsistent responses prompted the village chief to alert the police. Subsequently, Shivagami was taken into custody for questioning, where she confessed to the murders.
Both Shivagami and Raja were arrested and presented to the Tirupattur court, where they were remanded to jail. The shocking nature of this case has left the community in disbelief.
