Saurabh Raj Jain Discusses Emotional Acting Techniques in the Digital Age

Mumbai, March 6: The rise of OTT platforms is transforming how artists approach their craft. Unlike traditional television and films, where preparation varied significantly, web series and digital content demand a deeper emotional connection from performers. In a recent interview, renowned television and OTT actor Saurabh Raj Jain shared intriguing insights about his acting methods.

Jain stated, “When acting in front of the camera, I don’t think much about voice modulation. I believe that if an actor immerses themselves fully in the moment and emotion, the fluctuations in voice come naturally.”

He emphasized, “The greatest strength of acting lies in emotions. When I portray a character, I first try to understand their situation and feelings. If a scene requires anger, sadness, happiness, or any other emotion, I adapt myself to that feeling. In such cases, there’s less need to consciously alter my voice, as emotions dictate the tone.”

Having also worked in radio, Jain noted, “In radio, an artist must convey the story and emotions solely through voice. This is why I consider voice to be very impactful. However, when acting for television or web series, I don’t rely solely on my voice. Facial expressions, eye language, and body reactions are equally important in front of the camera.”

Sharing his experiences, he added, “If a scene requires voice modulation, I handle it instinctively. I don’t need to pre-plan which words to emphasize or which lines to soften. If an actor is fully present in the moment and genuinely feels the scene’s emotion, voice modulation occurs naturally. This is true acting, where the artist communicates their feelings to the audience without any artifice.”
