Mumbai, March 31: The demand for stories that go beyond mere entertainment is rapidly increasing on OTT platforms. In this context, a new show titled “Satrangi: Badle Ka Khel” is making waves. Set against the backdrop of rural Uttar Pradesh, the series explores how traditions and social beliefs profoundly impact people’s lives.
The narrative revolves around the character Babloo Mahato, portrayed by actor Anshuman Pushkar. Babloo grows up as the son of a ‘launda dancer.’ Circumstances force him to adopt his father’s profession, which is often viewed negatively by society. As a result, Babloo faces numerous challenges and taunts.
Through this character, the show sheds light on existing prejudices and discrimination in society. Babloo’s journey is one of struggle for identity, respect, and a place in the world. The complexities of relationships, societal pressure, and the simmering anger within him add depth to the story.
Actress Mahvash also plays a significant role in the series. She describes this project as a unique and different experience in her career. Mahvash stated, “The tone of this show is quite real and serious, which pushed me out of my comfort zone. This character has given me an opportunity to understand myself better as an artist.”
She added, “Working on such a story has been incredibly satisfying. Through this show, I have explored and learned new aspects of my acting.”
Meanwhile, Anshuman Pushkar shared his thoughts on his character, saying, “This has been a very special experience for me. The world of ‘launda dancers’ is often misunderstood and undervalued. Portraying this character honestly was a significant responsibility.”
He emphasized, “I had to truly feel this character from within to deliver an authentic performance. Playing a lead role in such a unique and different story is one of the most memorable experiences of my career.”
