Satish Poonia Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Constitutional Institutions

Ayodhya, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MP Satish Poonia has labeled the protests by the India Bloc as a battle for narrative control. Speaking to the media in Ayodhya, he criticized the opposition’s attacks on the Election Commission, equating them to questioning the Constitution itself. He pointed out that when the opposition wins elections, the Election Commission is deemed effective, but when they lose, it is suddenly criticized.

Poonia alleged that the India Bloc is attempting to weaken constitutional institutions to establish its own narrative. He noted that the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process has been a part of Congress-led governments as well. This process is aimed at purifying the voter list, which he believes benefits the public and strengthens democracy.

He questioned why Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav did not engage in discussions during the last Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sessions if they were so confident in their positions. Poonia suggested that the opposition could have raised issues like the SIR, the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), or electoral reforms in the house.

He emphasized that presenting a false narrative to the people will not yield any benefits. According to Poonia, the citizens of India and Uttar Pradesh are well aware of the opposition’s tactics and will not be misled.

Poonia raised doubts about Rahul Gandhi’s political acumen, expressing surprise that, despite his age, he lacks a solid understanding of the electoral process. He highlighted that elections have been held in India since 1952, and while earlier elections were marred by violence, today’s elections are conducted in a more organized and transparent manner. He questioned why the Congress party did not voice its concerns about the electoral process over the years if it had objections.

Referencing senior lawyer Harish Salve, Poonia claimed that foreign funding may be behind such movements. He asserted that this was not merely his opinion but Salve’s assertion. He also mentioned the FCRA-related bill, alleging that large-scale conversions have been occurring in the country, and that attempts to create chaos stem from anxiety over this legislation.

On comments made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Poonia stated that improved ration distribution and governance in the state have fostered public trust.

Targeting the Congress party, he noted that it has weakened in Uttar Pradesh and is no longer a significant player, likening its current status to that of a regional party. He suggested that Congress is trying to regain political ground by aligning with the Samajwadi Party. Poonia agreed with Chief Minister Adityanath’s assertion that the ideologies and policies of long-standing parties have been rejected by the public.

Reflecting on his experiences, Poonia mentioned that he belongs to a generation that participated in the kar seva (volunteer service) during the 1990s. He recalled the tragic events of that time when kar sevaks were shot, recalling the loss of a friend and the injury of another. He emphasized that the construction of the Ram Temple represents not just a physical structure but a grand temple dedicated to Lord Ram. He believes that under Prime Minister Modi‘s leadership, a cultural renaissance has begun in India. Poonia noted that centuries of foreign rule had harmed India’s ancient traditions, but the struggle of 500 years and the sacrifices of millions have not been in vain. The grand Ram Temple’s construction sends a message of cultural revival not just to India, but to the entire world.
