New Delhi, August 13: Central Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, has targeted Congress regarding the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand. During a session in the Lok Sabha, he mocked opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Echo of Students’ initiative, stating that Gandhi is unable to hear the ‘Echo of Jharkhand.’
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Minister Seth remarked that despite students being injured in police baton charges, Rahul Gandhi has yet to visit Jharkhand. He labeled Gandhi as the “largest factory of lies” in the country, claiming that he only chooses to acknowledge matters that suit him. “He cannot hear the ‘Echo of Jharkhand,'” Seth asserted.
The BJP leader further stated that Gandhi lacks the courage to visit Jharkhand because Congress is a coalition partner in the current state government, which inhibits his willingness to go.
Seth accused the Jharkhand government of adopting a “dictatorial attitude,” alleging that a scam worth approximately 400 crore rupees has occurred. He questioned who benefits from this scam, asking why there is no demand for a CBI investigation. He suggested that this is due to the involvement of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress affiliates, who fear that a CBI probe could lead to the imprisonment of senior leaders from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress.
Moreover, Minister Seth emphasized that the students of Jharkhand are resolute and will continue their protests despite the power outages. “No one can intimidate them,” he declared.
Additionally, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey questioned why the student protests in Jharkhand are not a significant issue for Congress. Speaking to journalists in Parliament, he expressed that Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi should feel ashamed of how the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, and Chief Secretary of Ranchi are treating protesting students, stating, “I have never witnessed such brutality.”
Dubey raised concerns over the refusal to allow a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in examinations, despite demands from candidates of the JPSC-JSSC. He noted that the Jharkhand government is aware that a thorough investigation would expose collusion from the Chief Minister to the Chief Secretary.
