S. Jaishankar Meets French Senate Friendship Group to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

New Delhi, April 15: India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with the French Senate Friendship Group led by Mireille Jouve in New Delhi. The discussion focused on various aspects of India-France bilateral relations.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing their “special global strategic partnership” through regular parliamentary dialogue.

Minister Jaishankar expressed his satisfaction on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “I was pleased to meet Senator Mireille Jouve and the French Senate Friendship Group in Delhi. Our discussions covered various aspects of bilateral relations. I am confident that regular parliamentary exchanges will further strengthen our ‘special global strategic partnership’.”

On the same day, Jaishankar also met with Austrian Federal Chancellor Dr. Christian Stocker, who is on an official visit to India.

In a post on ‘X’, Jaishankar wrote, “It was a pleasure to meet Austrian Federal Chancellor Dr. Christian Stocker, who is on his first official visit to India. I am confident that his discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow will open new avenues for cooperation in various sectors.”

In recent weeks, Jaishankar has engaged with several foreign ministers from various countries, maintaining strong communication with India’s key partners.

On Tuesday, he spoke with Australian counterpart Penny Wong over the phone to discuss the ongoing tensions in West Asia. After the conversation, Jaishankar noted on ‘X’, “I had a productive discussion with Senator Penny Wong regarding the situation in West Asia; the exchange of ideas was commendable.”

Earlier that afternoon, Jaishankar also had a telephone conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Saar, stating, “We discussed various aspects related to West Asia.” Saar later posted on ‘X’, mentioning that he had a good conversation with his friend, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, covering topics such as Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, and Lebanon.

In another post, Jaishankar shared insights from his discussion with the Australian counterpart, stating, “We deliberated on the West Asia conflict with Senator Wong.”
