Russia Criticizes Japan for Distorting Historical Facts in Media
Russias foreign ministry condemns Japan for historical inaccuracies in films and TV dramas, warning of potential repercussions.

Beijing, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed strong disapproval of Japan’s portrayal of historical events in its films and television dramas. Maria Zakharova, the ministry’s spokesperson, highlighted these concerns during a regular press conference held on October 28.
Zakharova pointed out that Russia has observed a pattern of historical distortion related to the Southern Kuril Islands, known as the Northern Territories in Japan, the Russo-Japanese War, and the depiction of Soviet intelligence personnel. She emphasized that if Japan continues this “misguided activity,” Russia will take appropriate measures in response.
In her remarks, Zakharova reiterated Russia’s commitment to an objective interpretation of history, a principle that extends to the film and television industry as well. She also expressed concern regarding Japan’s policy of “re-militarization,” indicating that this issue is closely linked to the broader context of their bilateral relations.
This statement from Russia comes amid ongoing tensions between the two nations, particularly regarding territorial disputes and historical narratives.
