
Dehradun, May 19: Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, daughter of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Major General (Retired) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, expressed her deep sorrow over her father’s passing. In an emotional statement, she remarked that this is a difficult time for the family. “I have lost my father. What happens is God’s will,” she said.
Speaking to the media in Dehradun, Ritu found it challenging to articulate her feelings. “What I learned from him as a father is unforgettable. He dedicated his life to serving the nation. He fought in three wars and instilled in us the values of living and dying for our country,” she shared.
She further revealed that her father had been hospitalized for the past 50 days. His condition had been improving, and doctors were surprised at his recovery. However, this morning, he suffered a cardiac arrest and could not be revived.
Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri passed away at Max Hospital in Dehradun at the age of 91 after a prolonged illness. He was a prominent leader in the Uttarakhand BJP, transitioning from a military career to politics, known for his simplicity, discipline, and integrity.
Khanduri served as Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister twice, first from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2011 to 2012. During his tenure, he took a strong stance against corruption and implemented significant measures to establish transparent and disciplined governance.
His death has sent shockwaves through the political and social spheres. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences on social media, stating, “I am saddened to hear about the passing of former Chief Minister Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri (Retired). He set a unique example of service, discipline, and dedication to the nation during his time in the Indian Army. His personality was devoted to the welfare of the nation and public service, from military life to public life.”
