
Bengaluru, April 15: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the toss against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and chose to bowl first. RCB aims to secure a victory to climb to the top of the points table.
In this match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB made one change, bringing in Josh Hazlewood in place of Jacob Duffy. Meanwhile, LSG did not alter their playing eleven.
After winning the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar stated, “We will bowl first. The pitch looks good, and we want to take advantage of that and put pressure on the opposing team. There’s no grass on the pitch, and it looks promising. Everyone in the team is performing well and stepping up when needed. Hazlewood replaces Duffy in the lineup.”
On the other hand, LSG captain Rishabh Pant expressed confidence, saying, “We believe in ourselves. This is a good pitch for batting. Whether we bat first or second, we need to perform well. We don’t want to waste time overthinking. Trust your team and play well. There are no changes in our playing eleven.”
So far in IPL 2026, RCB has won 3 out of 4 matches. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 6 wickets in their opening match, followed by a 43-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, Rajasthan Royals (RR) halted RCB’s winning streak with a 6-wicket win. In their latest match, RCB triumphed over Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs.
Conversely, LSG faced a 6-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) in their first match. They then secured victories against Sunrisers Hyderabad (5 wickets) and Kolkata Knight Riders (3 wickets) but lost to Gujarat Titans by 7 wickets in their subsequent match.
LSG’s playing eleven includes: Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper/captain), Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Mukul Chaudhary, Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan, Digvijay Singh Rathi, and Prince Yadav.
