Ahmedabad, June 1: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have clinched the IPL 2026 title. In a thrilling final on Sunday, RCB defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets. This marks RCB’s second consecutive title under the leadership of captain Rajat Patidar, who was visibly emotional after the victory.
During the post-match presentation, Patidar expressed, “It feels absolutely amazing. Coming here brought back many memories from last year. I lack words to express my emotions, but I feel great. Our plan was very clear. Winning the toss made chasing the target easier for us. The way Bhuvi, Hazlewood, Rasikh, Krunal, Suyash, and Shepherd bowled throughout the tournament was truly commendable. I never imagined I would become the captain of RCB and win the trophy. I believe it was written in my destiny. I am very grateful for this.”
He added, “This year, our confidence was a bit higher compared to last year. Wherever we played, the presence of our fans made us feel at home. My preparation before the tournament was excellent. I analyzed which shots would be most effective for me. I received valuable advice from Dinesh Karthik, which proved to be very helpful. He is always there for the team at every moment.”
Patidar dedicated the victory to RCB fans, stating, “This one is once again for you, RCB fans. The cup is ours this year.”
In the final match, after losing the toss, GT batted first and scored 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. RCB chased down the target, thanks to an unbeaten 75-run innings from Virat Kohli, finishing at 161 runs for 5 wickets in 18 overs to secure the IPL 2026 trophy.
