Ram Gopal Yadav Criticizes Rebel TMC MPs for Betraying Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi, June 15: Ram Gopal Yadav, a leader of the Samajwadi Party and Rajya Sabha MP, sharply criticized 20 rebel MPs from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday. He expressed his discontent, stating that those whom Mamata Banerjee had promoted are now betraying her.

While addressing reporters during an event in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, Yadav remarked, “The individuals whom Mamata Banerjee lifted from the ‘dustbin’ to become ministers, MLAs, and MPs are the very ones deceiving her now.”

Yadav also took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), voicing concerns about institutional and constitutional integrity. He asserted, “The BJP is not merely dismantling regional parties; it is undermining the Constitution and working towards dividing the country.”

This statement from Ram Gopal Yadav comes at a time when the 20 rebel TMC MPs recently met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The dissent within the TMC began following the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections. Initially, a faction of TMC legislators broke away from Mamata Banerjee, followed by the rebellion among the party’s MPs. The rebel MPs claim to have garnered support from over 20 Lok Sabha members, deepening the crisis for the party.

Currently, the TMC has 28 MPs in the Lok Sabha, but the defection of 20 MPs will significantly reduce their numbers. This poses a critical challenge for Mamata Banerjee in her efforts to stabilize the TMC. Additionally, discussions are underway regarding a potential merger of the rebel MPs with the Nationalist Citizen Party (NCP). The rebel MPs have also pledged support to the NDA at the center.
