Rajnath Singh Arrives in Dushanbe for SCO Heads of State Meeting

Dushanbe, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Monday evening for a two-day official visit. He represents India at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State meeting. The primary aim of this international conference is to strengthen regional cooperation.

During the meeting, Singh will address issues related to enhancing bilateral relations among SCO member countries. According to the Defense Ministry, discussions will focus on trade, economy, investment, connectivity, innovation, and cultural exchanges on October 19 and 20. The agenda also includes reviewing the progress of ongoing cooperative initiatives within the organization, as well as financial management and institutional operations.

India has actively participated in various SCO forums, contributing to regional cooperation through initiatives in startups, innovation, digital public infrastructure, and people-to-people connections. This meeting in Dushanbe is seen as an opportunity for India to exchange ideas and foster practical collaboration with other member countries, aimed at enhancing mutual understanding on shared interests and strengthening regional partnerships.

Singh departed from New Delhi on Monday morning, expressing his eagerness to represent India at this significant meeting. He noted that discussions would prominently feature strengthening cooperation among SCO member states. The agenda includes trade, economy, investment, connectivity, innovation, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Additionally, member countries will review the progress of existing collaborative initiatives and address issues related to financial management and institutional operations.
