Jaipur, 28 August (Kiran News): The Rajasthan High Court has cancelled the entire SI Recruitment 2021 process. The court has also directed the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) to include the posts from the cancelled recruitment either in the original recruitment advertisement or in the new advertisement issued on 17 July. Additionally, the court has taken suo motu cognizance of RPSC’s working style, sending the matter as a public interest litigation to the Chief Justice for further hearing. Justice Sameer Jain’s single bench passed this order while deciding on the petitions of Kailash Chandra Sharma and others, after reserving its judgment on 14 August.

The court stated that RPSC members, including the chairman, played an active role in the paper leak, saying “insiders brought down the fort.” The confidentiality of the recruitment was compromised when a former RPSC member leaked the handwritten exam paper before it reached the printing press. The involvement of former RPSC Chairman Sanjay Shrotriya added seriousness to the issue, as he not only issued instructions regarding interview actions related to his own family members but also participated actively in the interview panel. The state government, Advocate General, sub-ministerial committee, and SOG had previously recommended cancellation of the 2021 SI recruitment. The government and AG had also accepted that it could be cancelled in the future if necessary. The court noted that not cancelling the recruitment could raise questions over the state’s law and order.
Posts to Be Included in New Recruitment
The court directed RPSC to make alternative arrangements for these posts under either the 3 February 2021 or the 17 July 2025 advertisement. It also said that the interests of candidates from the 2021 recruitment should be considered, especially regarding age relaxation. Applicants should be given sufficient time for preparation and to appear in the next exam. RPSC was directed to maintain impartiality in the upcoming recruitment process.
Court Takes Cognizance of RPSC Functioning
Raising questions over RPSC’s functioning, the court has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and instructed it to be registered as a public interest litigation before a division bench. The court noted that the shortcomings are not limited to the SI Recruitment 2021 but have occurred in other recruitments as well. The SIT report revealed several flaws, including that commission members themselves leaked exam papers before they reached the printing press.
