Raghav Chadha Launches Drug-Free Punjab Campaign with BJP President Nitin Naveen in Pathankot

Pathankot, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Raghav Chadha, a member of the Rajya Sabha, has launched a ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ campaign in Pathankot, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the escalating drug crisis in the state. He joined forces with Nitin Naveen, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), for this initiative.

In a post on the social media platform X, Chadha emphasized the devastating impact of drugs, stating, “Substances not only ruin lives but also devastate entire families. Today, I began the ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ campaign in Pathankot alongside BJP’s Nitin Naveen, meeting families grappling with the adverse effects of drugs. Their stories serve as a painful reminder of the human toll this crisis inflicts.”

Chadha criticized the current AAP government for its failure to address the drug issue, asserting, “Promises were made to Punjab’s youth for jobs, opportunities, and a brighter future. Yet, after four and a half years, it is families who are paying the heaviest price.”

He further pointed out that despite the AAP’s commitment to eliminate drugs from Punjab, the problem has worsened significantly over the past four and a half years. The supply of narcotics, particularly ‘chitta,’ has surged, infiltrating neighborhoods and veins. The number of overdose victims has risen, alongside increased drug consumption. Chadha noted that large-scale home delivery of drugs is now prevalent in Punjab.

Describing the campaign as a public movement, he stated, “The ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ initiative is a people’s movement for a drug-free Punjab.”
