Alcaraz Claims Vienna Open Title with Victory Over De Minaur
Carlos Alcaraz secures his fourth tour-level title by defeating Alex de Minaur at the Vienna Open, maintaining an impressive winning streak.

Vienna, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Carlos Alcaraz triumphed at the Vienna Open on Sunday, defeating Australia’s Alex de Minaur in straight sets. With this victory, the Spanish player secured his fourth tour-level title of the season, capping off an impressive ATP 500 campaign.
Ranked third in the ATP standings, Alcaraz showcased his skills by winning the final match 6-1, 6-4, against the world number 10. The match lasted 97 minutes, during which Alcaraz did not drop a single set throughout the tournament, further solidifying his dominance.
In the first set, Alcaraz demonstrated exceptional form, hitting the ball with remarkable precision. His powerful groundstrokes continually challenged De Minaur’s renowned defensive skills. Despite De Minaur’s efforts, which included pushing five out of seven games to deuce, Alcaraz’s superior play allowed him to break serve three times, taking an early lead.
De Minaur, the Rotterdam champion, who had entered the final unbeaten in ten indoor matches in 2026, struggled under pressure in the second set. Although he saved break points in the second, fourth, and eighth games, he could not maintain his serve in the tenth game. With a score of 30/40, Alcaraz won a crucial rally to secure his championship points.
Alcaraz’s first serve was highly effective, winning 81% of points (29 out of 36). He now leads 7-0 in head-to-head matchups against De Minaur and boasts a flawless 15-0 record against Australian players in tour-level matches.
With this title, Alcaraz has reached a total of 11 career titles, placing him among tennis greats Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal, who each have 15 titles. Since the inception of the ATP 500 series in 2009, these three players have been the most successful.
Winning the title in Vienna also gives Alcaraz an impressive 16-0 record in ATP 500 events, which includes victories in Doha and Tokyo. The 23-year-old has now won 26 consecutive matches at this level, with his last defeat coming in the Barcelona Championship match against Holger Rune in April 2025. He is only behind the “Big Three” in the all-time ATP 500 title count.
According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Alcaraz heads into the Paris Masters with a strong 38-5 record this season, following a stellar start to his European indoor campaign. He has already qualified for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, where he will face either Jiri Lehecka or Alex Michelsen in his opening match at the French ATP Masters 1000 event.
