Chandigarh, March 8: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government is set to present its budget on International Women’s Day. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will unveil the 2026-27 Punjab budget, with preparations already underway. The Finance Minister has signed the budget documents, initiating the next steps.
Before the budget presentation, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema expressed, “On behalf of myself and the Aam Aadmi Party, I extend heartfelt wishes to all women on International Women’s Day. Today, Punjab’s historic budget is being presented on this significant day. I believe this is a great honor for women. No party or government in history has presented a budget on International Women’s Day. The Aam Aadmi Party is the only party in the country dedicating its budget to women.”
Independent MLA Sandeep Jakhar commented on the Punjab budget for 2026-27, stating, “The budget will be presented first, and only then can we comment. We hope the Finance Minister will inform us about what has been accomplished in the last four years.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took to X, saying, “Heartfelt wishes to all mothers, sisters, and daughters residing in Punjab and abroad on International Women’s Day. I salute all daughters and sisters who are bringing glory to Punjab through their hard work and courage. I also pay tribute to the mothers who have never let us sleep hungry. We are committed to making you self-reliant in every field, and during this budget session, we will bring great news for mothers, sisters, and daughters.”
