Punjab Chief Minister Claims 80% of Drugs from Pakistan Destroyed

Chandigarh, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Monday that the state government is taking decisive action against gangsters and drug problems. He criticized the opposition for engaging in “vulture politics,” using unfortunate events to stay in the media spotlight instead of presenting a vision for the state.

Since January, the government has repatriated ten gangsters from abroad, and nearly 80% of drugs entering Punjab from Pakistan have been destroyed, Mann stated. He also indicated that the state will tighten its grip on drug supplies coming from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. He specifically called out the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), suggesting that addressing issues at Gujarat’s Mundra Port could significantly reduce Punjab’s drug problem.

Mann asserted that parties like the Congress and the Akali Dal have no right to comment on law and order. He urged all three opposition parties to cease their “dirty politics” and instead present a constructive vision for Punjab.

During a press conference, Mann condemned the opposition’s tactics, stating that exploiting unfortunate events when no real issues exist is not true public service but rather “vulture politics.” He emphasized that Punjab deserves better than such low-quality political maneuvering.

He further explained that instead of acknowledging the government’s ongoing fight against drugs, gangsters, and organized crime, the opposition is intentionally creating fear and tarnishing Punjab’s image for narrow political gains. Mann highlighted that Punjab is not just a border state but also a gateway to the country and a jewel of India. Any attempt to portray the entire state through isolated incidents is a deliberate effort to defame Punjab and its people.

The Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive action plan to dismantle the nexus of drugs, gangsters, and organized crime. He emphasized that their fight extends beyond mere arrests. The government is actively identifying gangs, seizing shipments, blocking financial channels, and bringing criminals to justice. Punjab Police are working tirelessly, ensuring that criminals do not dictate the state’s agenda. Individuals involved in drug-related activities are being pursued relentlessly, regardless of their political connections or influence.
