BJP Responds Firmly to Protests Against Election Commission in Hyderabad
BJP leaders criticize ongoing protests against the Election Commission, asserting that elections are the proper means for regime change.

Hyderabad, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a strong stance against ongoing protests led by various groups against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Hyderabad. Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao emphasized that those disrupting public order and defying police directives are being detained in accordance with the law.
Rao stated, “Business owners and shopkeepers have approached the Supreme Court to relocate the protest site from Jantar Mantar. Despite this, protesters are openly expressing their intent to incite violence and seek a regime change. Regime changes occur through elections every five years, and people can contest issues through that democratic process. Their intentions are dangerous, and police action is warranted.”
He also addressed comments from leaders, including former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who claim that the current situation resembles a state of emergency. Rao reminded them that the Emergency was imposed during Congress rule and urged them to answer why Indira Gandhi enacted it.
In related news, Telangana BJP spokesperson Dr. Samta Ji provided updates regarding the Special Summary Revision (SSR) controversy. She announced that the Election Commission has decided to conduct a Special Summary Revision of voter lists across all states by January 1, 2027, including those where SSR has already been completed. This process will affect the voter lists in 17 states nationwide.
BJP leader Prakash Reddy commented on the plans by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) to hold a protest waving the national flag in Connaught Place. He noted that while there is no issue with displaying the national flag in a park, any act of disrespect towards it is a crime. The Delhi police have already issued notices to prevent gatherings in Connaught Place to avoid public disturbances and maintain law and order.
