Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force Arrests Key Associates of Foreign Gangster in Double Murder Case

Chandigarh, May 13: The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has made significant progress by arresting three key associates of a foreign-based gangster involved in a double murder case. These individuals were attempting to flee to Bhutan when they were apprehended. The information was shared by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab on his social media platform, ‘X’, on Wednesday.

In a post, he stated, “In a major success, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in collaboration with OFTEC Punjab, Batala police, and central agencies, executed a planned operation that led to the arrest of three main associates of a foreign-based gangster at the India-Bhutan border in West Bengal. They were caught while trying to escape to Bhutan.”

The arrested suspects were linked to a sensational double murder case in the villages of Bhoma and Batala. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were acting under the instructions of their fugitive leader, ‘Happy Jatt’, and carried out these planned murders at his behest.

He further emphasized, “The Punjab police are fully committed to dismantling organized crime networks and ensuring a safe Punjab.”

In a related incident, a similar crackdown occurred in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, where the Faridpur police in Bareilly exposed a gang operating an IPL betting racket and arrested the main culprit.

The police seized ₹10,000 in cash, six ATM cards, three passbooks, two fake Aadhaar and PAN cards, and one mobile phone from the accused. Additionally, transactions amounting to approximately ₹7 crore had occurred in the last three years through the criminal’s accounts.

SP South Bareilly, Anshika Verma, stated that the accused was running the IPL betting operation on a large scale, involving over 100 accomplices. An FIR has been filed against the accused, and police are actively pursuing the two absconding associates named during the interrogation.
