Guwahati, February 19: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Guwahati on Thursday for a two-day visit. She sought blessings at the Kamakhya Temple and shared a photo on the social media platform X.

In her post, she wrote, “I visited Maa Kamakhya Devi in Assam to seek blessings and pray for the welfare of Assam and the entire nation. May Maa’s grace remain upon every brother and sister of India. Jai Maa Kamakhya.”

During her visit, Priyanka Gandhi was seen wearing a traditional shawl, adorned with a garland, and sporting a tilak on her forehead. She was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Upon landing at the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Borjhar, Priyanka Gandhi went directly to the historic Kamakhya Temple for prayers.

After her temple visit, she proceeded to Rajiv Bhawan, the headquarters of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. Here, she will preside over several important meetings related to candidate selection.

Senior Congress leaders indicated that Priyanka Gandhi is closely monitoring the candidate selection process in Assam. Party officials noted that this time, a comprehensive and organized approach is being adopted, gathering extensive suggestions and information from grassroots workers and district leaders.

Meetings at Rajiv Bhawan will evaluate potential candidates, review organizational preparations, and emphasize strengthening coordination between state leadership and the All India Congress Committee.

Insiders revealed that there is a strong focus on identifying winnable candidates and effectively addressing local issues ahead of the elections.

Assam Congress leaders also hinted that Priyanka Gandhi may undertake several more visits to the state in the coming months. These visits aim to monitor ground progress, gather political insights from various regions, and maintain close communication between central leadership and state units as the election campaign intensifies.

The Congress party aims to complete the candidate selection process as soon as possible. According to party sources, after discussions with central leadership, the first list of Congress candidates for the Assam Assembly elections may be released by the end of February.
