New Delhi, April 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation tonight at 8:30 PM. Earlier in the day, leaders from all parties held a formal meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla after the conclusion of the parliamentary session. Prime Minister Modi also chaired a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in New Delhi, focusing on safeguarding India’s security and economic interests amid escalating conflicts in West Asia.

Previously, on September 21, 2025, the Prime Minister addressed the nation regarding the implementation of GST reforms. He announced that the next generation of GST reforms would take effect with sunrise on the first day of Navratri. Modi stated that a ‘GST Savings Festival’ would commence, promising increased savings for citizens to purchase their favorite items.

On November 8, 2016, during a national address, Prime Minister Modi announced the demonetization of ₹500 and ₹1000 notes. He also spoke to the nation on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2016, unveiling significant plans for impoverished citizens and farmers.

Following that, Modi addressed the nation on March 27, 2019, after the successful test of India’s anti-satellite missile. On November 8, 2019, he supported the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 during a national address.

On November 9, 2019, following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Ram Janmabhoomi case, Modi appealed for peace, harmony, and unity. He urged citizens to observe the Janata Curfew on March 19, 2020, and announced the COVID-19 lockdown and its subsequent extensions on March 24, 2020. The Prime Minister has addressed the nation on numerous occasions since then.
