New Delhi, April 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 133rd episode of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday. He discussed the Beating Retreat ceremony conducted by the armed forces and encouraged people to enjoy the music presented during this event.
The Prime Minister stated, “In our country, we celebrate the Republic Day festival from January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, to January 30, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. A significant part of this celebration is the Beating Retreat. This ceremony showcases the diverse musical traditions of various bands. In recent years, there has been an increased inclusion of Indian music, which has resonated well with the public. This year’s Beating Retreat ceremony was memorable, featuring outstanding performances from the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Central Police Force bands. The program, with its magnificent music and vibrant formations, captivates everyone.”
He further mentioned, “This year, the Air Force band created a Sindoor formation, while the Navy band showcased the construction of a fish instrument. The Army band’s performance highlighted the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ and celebrated India’s achievements in cricket. After the Beating Retreat, the hard work and accomplishments often fade away, but significant efforts have been made to preserve them. For the first time, the music from the Beating Retreat is available on Waves OTT. In the future, this music will be accessible on other platforms as well. Listening to this music will instill pride in everyone for our armed forces and traditions.”
It is noteworthy that the Beating Retreat marks the conclusion of India’s Republic Day celebrations. During this event, bands from the Army, Air Force, and Navy march to traditional tunes. The Beating Retreat program is held annually after Republic Day at Raisina Hills and the adjacent Vijay Chowk, surrounded by the North and South Blocks of the President’s House at the end of Rajpath.
