Prime Minister Modi Expresses Condolences on the Passing of BJP MLA Govind Parmar

New Delhi, March 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his sorrow over the passing of Gujarat BJP MLA Govind Parmar. He noted that Parmar was always dedicated to social work.

On Saturday morning, Prime Minister Modi took to the social media platform ‘X’ to share his condolences, stating, “I am saddened to hear about the demise of Gujarat Assembly member Govind Parmar. He was always committed and dedicated to social causes. I pray for the peace of his departed soul and extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.”

Earlier, Gujarat BJP President and MLA Jagdish Vishwakarma also expressed deep sorrow over Parmar’s death. In a statement, Vishwakarma said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic passing of the popular MLA from Umreth, Govindbhai Parmar. I pray to God to grant peace to his soul and strength to his family to bear this loss.”

Govind Parmar was the MLA for the Umreth constituency in Anand district. He passed away on Friday while receiving treatment in a hospital. He was 82 years old. According to party leaders, Parmar had been unwell for a long time and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Anand, where he breathed his last.

Born in 1943, Parmar hailed from a humble background and was known as a grassroots political leader with deep ties to rural communities in the Charotar region. He completed his education up to the seventh grade and dedicated his life to public service and politics.

Parmar was elected to the Gujarat Assembly from the Umreth constituency in the 2017 elections, defeating Congress candidate Kapilaben Chavda to secure his first term in office. He retained this seat in the 2022 Assembly elections as a BJP candidate, defeating Jayant Patel of the Nationalist Congress Party.
