
New Delhi, April 16: President Droupadi Murmu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident that occurred in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday. The incident resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, with reports indicating that 10 to 12 others sustained injuries. The President extended her condolences to those who lost their loved ones and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
In a post on social media platform X, she stated, “The heartbreaking news of lives lost in a road accident in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, is deeply distressing. I express my heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and pray for the quick recovery of the injured.”
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also conveyed his sorrow regarding the road accident in Kurnool. He posted on X, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla shared his condolences on social media, stating, “The road accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, is extremely tragic. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured and strength for all affected during this difficult time.”
The accident occurred when devotees returning from the visit to the Mantalam temple in Karnataka collided with a truck near the Chilkaldona area of the Mantalam mandal. The impact was so severe that five people died at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Additionally, 10 to 12 individuals were injured and have been hospitalized.
