New Delhi, March 7: BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal has raised concerns regarding the proposed official residence for Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, which is estimated to cost ₹100 crore. He emphasized the necessity of having clear rules and standards for government residences and offices for any chief minister or minister.
Khandelwal stated, “It is essential to have an official residence or office to fulfill our daily responsibilities and duties. However, the specifications for such residences and offices must be clearly defined.” He accused Soren of following in the footsteps of Arvind Kejriwal, who previously constructed a lavish residence in Delhi.
The BJP MP insisted that the government should establish a clear policy regarding such matters. He remarked, “I believe there should be a policy in place with defined criteria. The rules should be uniform for all, whether they are chief ministers or ministers.” He warned that without such regulations, there is a risk of misusing public funds, which should be allocated for public development rather than personal gain.
In addition, Khandelwal responded to the opposition’s impending no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker. He noted that according to parliamentary rules, such a motion can only be introduced with the presiding officer’s approval and subsequent discussion.
Khandelwal asserted that the motion would not succeed, stating, “It is clear that this proposal will fail miserably, and the Congress and other opposition parties will realize their actual standing, as this motion lacks any logical basis.”
He also made sharp comments regarding West Bengal politics, indicating that the statements and behavior of Kalyan Banerjee reflect a certain mentality and political culture. Khandelwal remarked, “This showcases Kalyan Banerjee’s culture and mindset. Not only Kalyan Banerjee but also Mamata Banerjee’s government operates similarly in West Bengal.”
He alleged that BJP workers in West Bengal face violence and that democracy appears to be weakening in the region.
Furthermore, Khandelwal commented on the recent elections in Nepal, expressing optimism that a democratic government will be established and that the new administration will strengthen ties with India. He stated, “Nepal and India are naturally long-standing friends. It is hoped that whatever government is formed there will enhance relations with India.”
He added, “India has consistently supported Nepal over time. In today’s global scenario, cooperation with neighboring countries is crucial. I am confident that the new government in Nepal will further strengthen its relationship with India.”
