Political Turmoil Over Redistricting in Tamil Nadu: CM Stalin Calls for Protest

Chennai, April 15: The political landscape in Tamil Nadu is heating up over the contentious issue of redistricting. Chief Minister and DMK leader M.K. Stalin has released a video urging the state’s citizens to take a stand. He has called on everyone to raise black flags at their homes on Thursday and display them in public spaces as a sign of protest against this decision.

In his video message, CM Stalin described the redistricting proposal as a “serious threat” looming over Tamil Nadu. He accused the central government of betraying the southern states, claiming that this process would bolster the political power of northern states.

“Tamils will not remain silent. Every family will take to the streets to protest. I mentioned this in my video on Tuesday as well,” he stated. Stalin criticized the central government for ignoring constructive suggestions and attempting to suppress Tamil Nadu’s voice through this amendment.

He pointed out that while the government claims to increase the number of seats for Tamil Nadu and other southern states, the reality is that seat allocation is being determined based on the needs of northern states, disregarding the requirements of the south.

The Chief Minister raised a critical question: “Are we being punished for our population control measures? If we stand for the country’s development, will our political strength be stripped away?” He alleged that this process aims to make Tamils and people from southern states “second-class citizens.”

Stalin emphasized that it is time for the people of Tamil Nadu to show their strength against the BJP in Delhi. He labeled the proposed law, which will be presented in Parliament, as a “black law” and urged citizens to unite in opposition.

“Let us all raise black flags at our homes and voice our dissent against this authoritarian government that is dragging the country backward,” he declared. The Chief Minister warned that redistricting should not be based solely on population and vowed that this law would not be implemented. “Tamil Nadu will fight, and Tamil Nadu will win.”
