Political Tensions Rise as Jharkhand Student Protests Continue

New Delhi, August 10: Protests by students against irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand have entered their 17th day. Amidst a student march towards the assembly in Ranchi, leaders from the NDA have also stepped into the fray. They have targeted the Hemant Soren government, demanding a CBI investigation and dialogue with the students.

BJP MP and lawyer Ujjwal Nikam stated, “Everyone knows who is in power there. Have they met with the concerned individuals in Jharkhand yet?” He emphasized that the students’ demands should be considered sympathetically, similar to the response from the central government, which had promptly called for the resignation of the education minister.

In Hyderabad, BJP leader T.R. Srinivas criticized the Congress party, saying, “It is unfortunate that the Congress government is sitting on a high pedestal of arrogance and refuses to come down. I urge Congress leaders and CM Hemant Soren to lower their pride and listen to the students, understand their pain.”

Srinivas added, “You accuse us of mishandling the NEET exam. But what are you doing? You are ignoring the irregularities in JPSC and JSSC. Why are you denying a CBI investigation?”

In Patna, JD(U) National General Secretary Shyam Rajak commented on the ongoing student movement in Ranchi. “I have previously spoken about the need for dialogue, which CM Hemant Soren acknowledged, and discussions did take place. After addressing various issues, some decisions were made. However, the investigation remains unresolved. The CID is conducting an inquiry, and students should exercise a bit of patience regarding this matter.”

He also accused the opposition, stating, “Some political figures are trying to exploit this situation and mislead the students. I hope the students will not be misled.”

In New Delhi, LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Chaudhary expressed support for the students. She stated, “Wherever students protest, we always stand for accountability and transparency.” She added, “Our party’s national president Chirag Paswan has made it clear that our children, our students, are the future of this country. If they are demanding accountability from the government, it must be ensured—regardless of the state.”
