
New Delhi, April 18: In a late-night encounter in the Khapar Malang area of Raebareli district, Uttar Pradesh, police engaged with a wanted criminal, resulting in his arrest.
While on patrol, the police team attempted to stop a suspicious individual, who tried to flee. In the ensuing chase, the suspect opened fire on the officers. The police responded, injuring the suspect in the leg. He collapsed on the spot and was subsequently apprehended.
Police officials stated that ongoing operations under ‘Operation Lagda’ are aimed at cracking down on criminals and strengthening law enforcement in the district. The encounter was prompted by reports of suspicious activities during the police patrol. The arrested individual had been wanted in connection with a theft case for some time.
Authorities also recovered illegal firearms from the suspect. An investigation is underway to determine if any accomplices were involved. Following the incident, security measures in the area have been intensified to prevent further criminal activities.
The injured suspect has been identified as Mahajan, who has a history of involvement in multiple criminal cases. He was promptly admitted to the district hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. According to doctors, his condition is stable.
Emergency Medical Officer Vaibhav Shukla reported that the police brought in a wounded individual with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. After initial treatment, he was admitted to the hospital for further care under medical supervision.
