Ghaziabad, April 7: The Ghaziabad Commissionerate Police, in a joint operation with the SWAT team, Crime Branch, and Modinagar police, successfully apprehended a wanted criminal during an encounter. The suspect was injured and captured, while another accomplice was also arrested during a combing operation. Authorities recovered illegal weapons, cartridges, mobile phones, and a car from the scene.
According to police reports, on Tuesday morning, the SWAT team received a tip-off about a wanted criminal, carrying a reward of ₹25,000, who was traveling in an Alto car with an accomplice from Modinagar to his village in Dausa Banjarpur. Acting on this information, the police initiated a checking operation near Gadana village.
During the operation, a suspicious Alto car without a license plate was spotted. When the police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled towards a side road. The police pursued them, and the suspects opened fire. In the exchange, a bullet struck one of the assailants in the leg, causing him to fall. He was promptly rushed to the hospital.
The injured suspect was identified as Jalveer, also known as Jallu, aged 50, a resident of Dausa Banjarpur, Bhojpur, Ghaziabad. He was wanted in several serious cases, and a bounty of ₹25,000 was placed on him. During interrogation, he admitted to being involved in a recent shooting incident involving history-sheeter Rahul Kalu.
The police also arrested his accomplice, Jatin Sharma, aged 35, from Karkardooma, Delhi. Both suspects have multiple cases registered against them under various sections of the law. Jalveer faces charges of murder, robbery, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act, with some cases currently pending in Delhi courts.
From the scene, police seized a country-made pistol (.32 bore), five cartridges, a car, and three mobile phones. Police officials stated that further interrogations are ongoing, and more revelations in various cases are expected soon. A dedicated team is being formed to take action based on the suspects’ statements, and efforts to apprehend other absconding associates are underway.
