Police Encounter in Ghaziabad and Jhansi Leads to Arrest of Two Suspects

Mumbai, August 18: In a significant police operation, two suspects were apprehended following a shooting incident in the Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad. According to police reports, a case was registered against the duo on August 17. Acting on a tip-off, the Vijay Nagar police initiated a check near CHSP School, suspecting the individuals were planning to commit another crime.

During the operation, two young men on a motorcycle attempted to flee when the police tried to stop them. They opened fire on the police team, resulting in one suspect, Aman, being shot in the leg. The other suspect, Arun, was captured at the scene. Authorities recovered a motorcycle, two firearms, one live cartridge, and one spent cartridge from the suspects. Injured Aman was transported to the district hospital for treatment, and further legal action is underway.

In a parallel operation in Jhansi, the Nawabad police also executed a major crackdown on criminals, resulting in the arrest of two suspects. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized. The police seized a .315 bore firearm, a live .315 bore cartridge, a spent .315 bore cartridge, a 12 bore firearm, a stolen mangalsutra, and a total of ₹1,250 from the suspects.

City SP Preeti Singh reported that on August 17, at around 3 PM, the Nawabad police received a call via Dial 112 about two criminals who had snatched a woman’s mangalsutra. Upon receiving the information, the Nawabad police and the SWAT team acted swiftly. One suspect was identified as Brijendra. Following further intelligence, the police set up a blockade, leading to the arrest of both suspects during the encounter. Brijendra was also shot in the leg, while his accomplice, Ashish, was apprehended on the spot. Both suspects admitted to the crime of snatching the mangalsutra. Legal proceedings are ongoing in this case.
