New Delhi, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Conference in New Delhi on October 23, 2026. During the event, he engaged in a holographic dialogue with the spiritual leader Swami Chinmayananda. Modi reminisced about his meeting with the guru in 1993.
In this unique holographic interaction, PM Modi sought blessings from the spiritual figure for his future endeavors. He expressed, “I was fortunate to meet you, and today I wish to receive your blessings for the work I aim to accomplish.”
Responding to Modi, the holographic representation of Swami Chinmayananda expressed joy at seeing him as Prime Minister and assured him, “India is with you, Narendra.” Modi addressed the audience, describing the occasion as a remarkable spiritual experience and expressing gratitude for the blessings of saints.
He noted, “This is a different kind of spiritual experience. It is a blessing from our saints. The Chinmaya Mission is not just an organization; it represents ‘Chinmaya thought.’” Highlighting the significance of the event, he explained that the term ‘Chinmaya’ symbolizes immortality, adding depth to the conference held at the India Pavilion.
Reflecting on the moment, PM Modi stated, “For a moment, I felt as if I had traveled back in time. It is an emotional moment for me.” He thanked the Chinmaya Mission for organizing the event. Recalling his first encounter with the guru, Modi mentioned they met around February or March 1993 to invite him to the centenary celebration of the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago.
Modi shared, “He accepted my request and was ready to go there to raise awareness about the World Parliament of Religions. However, fate had other plans. Just weeks before the event, on August 3, he passed away.”
Addressing the attendees, PM Modi remarked, “Today, we see that over 100 educational institutions of the Chinmaya Mission are shaping the future of millions of children and youth. These institutions provide modern education while instilling Indian values.”
He emphasized the visionary thinking of leaders like Swami Chinmayananda during India’s struggle for independence, noting that the country is now fulfilling its responsibilities in line with that vision. Modi highlighted the introduction of a new National Education Policy aimed at aligning the education system with the needs of a new India, emphasizing Indian knowledge traditions, education in native languages, modern science, and new technologies.
He also acknowledged Swami Chinmayananda’s mission to promote and preserve Indian heritage. Modi referenced the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, stating that the initial financial contribution for this monumental task came from Swami Chinmayananda himself.
Today, the memorial serves as an inspiration for millions. Modi noted a renaissance of cultural centers across India, such as the revamped Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the famous Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain. He remarked on the return of numerous stolen idols over the past 12 years, with over 650 ancient artifacts repatriated.
He concluded by stating that India’s cultural centers are becoming part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, just as Swami Chinmayananda had spread Indian philosophy worldwide. Modi emphasized that the International Yoga Day connects people globally to India’s ancient traditions, fostering a sense of pride in heritage and confidence in moving beyond a colonial mindset.
