PM Modi Criticizes SP for Misusing Noida as ATM During Airport Inauguration

Greater Noida, March 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong critique against the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress during the inauguration of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district. He stated that the SP had previously turned Noida into an ATM for their own benefit. He accused the Congress and past governments of Uttar Pradesh of preventing the airport’s foundation from being laid.

While addressing the inauguration event, PM Modi remarked, “This airport is set to have a flight every two minutes. The SP had exploited Noida for their gains. However, under the BJP government, Noida is transforming into a powerful engine for Uttar Pradesh’s development. The Jewar Airport exemplifies the work culture of the ‘double engine’ government.”

He recalled that the airport was approved during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government in 2003, but construction never commenced. He criticized the Congress and previous state governments for stalling the project for years. “From 2004 to 2014, the airport remained buried in paperwork. When our government came to power, the SP was in control of Uttar Pradesh. For the first two to three years, they hindered progress on this project. But once the BJP took over, the foundation was laid, construction began, and today we celebrate its inauguration,” he explained.

PM Modi highlighted that Noida was previously neglected due to superstitions, with former leaders afraid to visit the area. He shared, “When I planned to visit Noida during the SP government, the Chief Minister was so frightened that he did not attend the event. I was warned against going to Noida, but I insisted on seeking blessings from the land that has given me the opportunity to serve for a long time. Today, this region is ready to welcome the world. It is empowering the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).”

In his address, PM Modi emphasized that airports are not merely facilities; they are gateways to progress. “Before 2014, there were only 74 airports in the country. Now, we have over 160. Air connectivity is reaching even the smallest towns, not just metropolitan areas. Previous governments believed air travel should be exclusive to the wealthy, but the BJP has made it accessible for ordinary Indians,” he concluded.
