During the call, he condemned the recent attacks on Bahrain and expressed solidarity with its people. PM Modi also thanked the King for his unwavering support to the Indian community in Bahrain.
After the conversation, PM Modi posted, “I had a meaningful discussion with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. India condemns the attacks on Bahrain and stands in solidarity with its people during this difficult time. I thank him for the steadfast support extended to the Indian community in Bahrain.”
Earlier in the day, the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force announced that its missile air defense systems had thwarted Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain. The General Command reported the destruction of 61 missiles and 34 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the Bahrain News Agency, the General Command emphasized that all defense systems are prepared to respond immediately and decisively to any potential threats.
The General Command stressed that the use of ballistic missiles and UAVs to target civilian infrastructure and private property constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law principles, particularly those of distinction and proportionality. It stated that these indiscriminate and unlawful attacks pose a direct threat to regional peace and security.
Bahrain reaffirmed its legitimate right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security. The General Command urged all citizens to exercise extreme caution, stay indoors, and only leave their homes when absolutely necessary for public safety. Citizens were advised to rely on official and verified information sources, avoid rumors, and stay away from attack sites.
