New Delhi, August 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made significant announcements during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort. He highlighted six key initiatives aimed at empowering youth, including AI training, a sports talent hunt, free coaching, and advancements in semiconductor technology.
AI Youth Skilling: Prime Minister Modi stated, “From the ramparts of the Red Fort today, I want to announce that we are committed to providing AI skill training to 10 million youths in the coming year. This will enable our youth to lead in the field of AI globally.”
Free Online Coaching: He emphasized the financial burden of coaching classes on middle-class families, saying, “Every parent feels that if they do not send their child to coaching classes, they will not be considered ‘prestigious.’ We are concerned about the thousands of crores spent by poor and middle-class families. We have decided to provide free online coaching for various competitive exams. With our digital public infrastructure and excellent talent, we are establishing a comprehensive network to offer free coaching to the youth of our nation.”
Improvements in Civil Defense: Modi remarked, “Ensuring the safety of India is our collective responsibility. Whether challenges arise from within or outside our borders, India must be fully prepared. The nature of warfare is changing, and it is no longer guaranteed that wars will only be fought at borders. Today, I announce that we will establish a modern and vibrant civil defense network in the coming days. We will familiarize citizens with advanced emergency systems and protocols.”
Sports Talent Hunt: The Prime Minister added, “Our goal is to participate in sports at the Olympics in 2036 that we have not yet competed in. A ‘Talent Hunt’ campaign will be launched to identify talent aged 5 to 15 years.”
Semiconductor Development: Modi noted, “In today’s digital world, we understand the critical importance of chips. Whether for electronic goods, medical devices, or transport systems, chips are essential. Without them, the world would come to a halt. India is moving towards self-reliance in this sector. Three major semiconductor plants have already been established, and production for export has begun. In the next 7-8 years, work will commence on five to eight more semiconductor plants.”
Nuclear Energy: The Prime Minister highlighted, “Nuclear energy is a significant component of energy security. We have taken a step towards a new goal by passing the ‘Peace Act’ in Parliament. We aim to achieve 100 GW of nuclear energy by 2047. Our target is to start five new nuclear reactors within this decade. This year, India achieved a significant milestone by mastering fast breeder nuclear technology, marking a major step towards self-reliance in nuclear fuel.”
