Srinagar, March 27 : A pall of gloom descended over Chattabugh village on Sunday, as thousands of moist eyes bid a tearful adieu to Special Police Officer (SPO) Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umer Jan in Budgam, during their last rites. SPO Ishfaq and his brother Umar, a student, were fired upon by militants at their residence at Chadabugh area in Budgam on Saturday. While the SPO died on way to hospital, his brother breathed his last this morning. Hundreds of people, including women and children assembled at the house of two slain brothers at Chattabugh in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, reports and eyewitnesses said. They said a large number of women wailed as the bodies of the duo were taken for burial in their ancestral graveyard. Some of the women showered candies and flowers on the coffins of the slain brothers. Hundreds of people attended the “Namaz-e-Jinaza” or the funeral prayers of the two brothers at village Chattabugh. “Every eye was moist here, as both siblings were young and loved by all the villagers for their jolly nature. We don’t know why they were killed and what was their fault,” a group of mourners said. “Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar, DIG Central Kashmir Sujit Kumar, and SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem visited the family of Ishfaq Ahmad and paid heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. IGP Kashmir assured that entire police force stands with the bereaved family”, the police said in a tweet. QAB SHK1806
