Pat Cummins Passes Fitness Test, Set to Rejoin SRH in IPL 2026

New Delhi, April 16: Major news has emerged for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2026, led by captain Ishan Kishan. Regular captain Pat Cummins has successfully passed his fitness test and is expected to join the team in a few days.

Cummins arrived in India before the start of IPL 2026 but was not available to play. After the season commenced, he returned to Australia for a back scan.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, scans conducted in Sydney revealed that his injury has healed, clearing the way for his return to competitive cricket. Upon his return to the team, Cummins is likely to resume his captaincy of SRH.

Cummins is aiming to make his comeback on April 25, when SRH faces Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.

The Australian captain has indicated that he will soon travel back to India to rejoin SRH. His return to the playing XI will not only strengthen SRH’s leadership but also enhance their bowling and lower-order batting.

Due to injury, Cummins played only one Test in the Ashes series and was also absent from the T20 World Cup 2026.

In Cummins’ absence, Ishan Kishan has been leading the team. Under his captaincy, SRH has won two out of five matches this season and currently sits in fourth place in the standings.

In their last match on Monday, SRH defeated the strong and unbeaten Rajasthan Royals. Debutants Praful Hinge and Saqib Hussain contributed significantly with their impressive fast bowling, each taking four wickets. RR was bowled out for just 159 runs while chasing a target of 217, losing the match by 57 runs.

SRH’s next match is scheduled for Saturday against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
