New Delhi, March 8: Political tensions are rising following a lapse in protocol during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to West Bengal. Independent MP Pappu Yadav has voiced his concerns regarding the incident.
In an interview with a news agency, Yadav stated, “I cannot comment on the specific circumstances. However, if President Murmu felt disrespected, I apologize on behalf of my region. I am unaware of what happens elsewhere.”
He further questioned the respect given to President Murmu by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the treatment of autonomous institutions. “In this country, the federal structure seems to have collapsed, leaving only one individual with any protocol. The Prime Minister’s protocol does not extend beyond India’s borders,” he remarked.
Yadav emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution, stating, “If anyone has violated law and order, they should be held accountable.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to Kerala, criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, claiming he should be in jail for corruption. This led to CPI leaders labeling Gandhi as the ‘B’ team of the BJP, a claim Yadav dismissed as unfounded.
He noted, “There is an ideological battle in many states. Gandhi did not target any specific party. If there are allegations of corruption against the Chief Minister, those should be addressed. If Congress believes the BJP is favoring Gandhi, they should approach the Supreme Court and present their case.”
Yadav also commented on the protests against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha, stating, “It is not in the interest of the people of Bihar for Kumar to go to the Rajya Sabha.”
