New Delhi, March 19: The packaged food and beverage market in India is projected to grow by 50% over the next four years, reaching approximately $150 billion by 2030, up from around $100 billion currently. This significant growth is expected to be supported by the rise of quick commerce, according to a report released on Thursday.
The report by Redseer indicates that the gross merchandise value (GMV) of the quick commerce segment is anticipated to increase from $4 billion to over $25 billion by 2030. This surge is primarily driven by the growing demand for speed, convenience, and high-frequency consumption.
Quick commerce has evolved beyond merely fulfilling last-minute orders and is rapidly influencing everyday shopping behaviors. With over 50 million monthly users across more than 250 cities, its share in the packaged food and beverage market is expected to rise from about 4% to between 15-20% by 2030.
Mrigank Gutgutia, a partner at Redseer Strategy Consultants, stated, “Quick commerce is emerging as a structural force in the packaged food and beverage market,” adding that it is impacting product innovation, category strategies, and investment decisions.
The report also highlights shifts in consumer preferences, with younger consumers increasingly focusing on protein products, while others prioritize clean and healthy food options.
The demand for ready-to-cook segments is rising due to smaller family sizes, time constraints, and increased use of kitchen appliances. Analysis shows that rapid delivery times of 10-15 minutes are also boosting on-demand consumption.
Health-focused beverages, including protein-based drinks, are gaining popularity, alongside a rising demand for packaged coconut water.
