Washington, March 23: President Donald Trump stated on Monday that ongoing discussions with Iran could lead to long-term stability in the Middle East. This region is crucial for global energy supply and is home to millions of migrants.
In Florida, during a press briefing, Trump mentioned that strong negotiations are taking place between the U.S. and Iran, bringing them closer to a potential agreement. He noted that nearly all points of consensus have been included in the discussions, which could soon progress toward a deal.
Trump indicated that both parties are assessing their progress within a five-day timeframe. However, he warned that if the talks fail, military action may continue. “If all goes well, we will resolve it; otherwise, we will continue bombing,” he stated.
The President reiterated that the U.S. will never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. He emphasized the importance of no enrichment and regional peace, expressing a desire to see stability in the Middle East. This agreement could benefit countries like Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
He suggested that Iran initiated this round of talks, saying, “They called me; I did not call them. They want to make a deal.” Trump also mentioned that under any agreement, the U.S. could take control of Iran’s enriched uranium. “If we reach an agreement, we will go and take it under our control,” he added.
Discussing Iran’s situation, Trump noted that many leadership groups have been eliminated in the early stages of the conflict. “We have eliminated several leadership groups; those who remain represent the country,” he said.
While expressing uncertainty about the outcome, Trump remarked, “I am not guaranteeing anything. I am just saying we are in a real possibility of reaching an agreement.”
He also commented on the potential global impact of the deal on oil markets, predicting that prices could drop sharply once an agreement is reached.
On domestic issues, Trump addressed the deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at U.S. airports. He blamed Democrats for the federal shutdown and immigration policies, stating, “This is all because of the Democrats.”
Trump praised ICE, describing them as high-level individuals doing a good job. He defended previous attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, claiming they significantly delayed its nuclear program. “If we hadn’t attacked, they would have had nuclear weapons within two to four weeks,” he concluded.
