Since 2017, over 53,000 women have benefited from Gujarats Sakhi One-Stop Centers, providing vital support for those affected by violence.

Gandhinagar, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : More than 53,000 women in Gujarat have received assistance through the Sakhi One-Stop Centers from 2017 until September this year. The centers primarily focus on providing support to women affected by violence, with shelter being the most utilized service.
According to government data, 36 centers operating across 34 districts in the state have helped a total of 53,851 women. Officials stated that these centers offer essential services under one roof, including shelter, medical treatment, legal aid, police assistance, and counseling, eliminating the need for women to visit multiple offices.
Of those who received help, 29,351 women were provided shelter, while 8,527 received medical assistance, 7,617 were offered legal support, and 4,706 received police help. The centers also feature video conferencing capabilities, emergency response, and rescue services, aimed at supporting women and adolescents facing violence at home, in workplaces, communities, or public spaces.
Launched in August 2016 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Sakhi One-Stop Center scheme aims to provide integrated support for women affected by violence in a single location. The centers facilitate immediate access to security and essential services tailored to individual needs, including medical care, legal advice, and police intervention.
Implemented by the state government’s Department of Women and Child Development, these centers operate 24/7, ensuring that women in crisis can access help at any time. Their services are designed to address urgent needs, including temporary shelter and medical aid, while also improving access to legal and police support.
The latest figures reflect the assistance provided since the program’s inception in 2017.
