Outrage Over Kabul Airstrike: Indian MP Calls for Global Accountability

New Delhi, March 17: Agra Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, a Member of Parliament from the Srinagar constituency, has strongly condemned the recent airstrike allegedly carried out by Pakistan in Kabul. This attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 400 civilians and left at least 250 injured, including patients at a rehabilitation center.

In a post on the social media platform X, Mehdi stated, “There should be an immediate halt to such actions, and the lives of civilians must never be sacrificed during conflicts. Silence in the face of such tragedies only promotes further injustice. The global community must not turn a blind eye to this.”

The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) has also called for an independent investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible.

The statement emphasized, “Institutions dedicated to treatment, rehabilitation, and humanitarian care should never be targeted in any conflict or security operation. Patients at these institutions represent some of the most vulnerable segments of society who seek help, dignity, and a chance to rebuild their lives. We are deeply saddened by this news.”

India has condemned the attack as well, labeling Pakistan’s actions as a disgraceful assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and a direct threat to peace and stability in the region.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “This reflects Pakistan’s ongoing reckless behavior and its repeated attempts to project internal failures outward through escalating acts of violence beyond its borders.”

The ministry further highlighted that what makes this attack particularly reprehensible is that it occurred during Ramadan, a sacred month for Muslims worldwide, symbolizing peace, reflection, and compassion.

It added, “No religion, law, or morality can justify deliberately targeting a hospital and its patients.”

India has urged the international community to hold the perpetrators of this criminal act accountable and ensure that Pakistan’s deliberate targeting of Afghan civilians ceases immediately.
