Opposition Prepares for Historic Rally in Delhi Amid NDA Criticism

The opposition gears up for a major rally in Delhi on November 1, facing criticism from the NDA, which labels it a publicity stunt.

New Delhi, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : A significant rally is set to take place on November 1 at Delhi’s Ramleela Maidan, as the opposition intensifies efforts to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They are urging the public to attend in large numbers, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has dismissed the event as mere theatrics aimed at benefiting business interests.

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC expressed skepticism about the rally’s potential success, noting that it coincides with the Diwali festival when families typically gather. She questioned the rationale behind public participation, suggesting that without significant turnout, the event would likely fail. “This is just a publicity stunt,” she remarked, emphasizing that Rahul Gandhi lacks a clear vision.

BJP leader Rohan Gupta criticized the Congress party for prioritizing political gains over public welfare. Referring to the Election Commission’s clarification that decisions were made collectively by all commissioners, he argued that Congress should apologize to the nation. He accused the party of undermining constitutional institutions while trying to incite chaos under the guise of a rally.

Conversely, Congress leader Naseem Khan asserted that regardless of the NDA’s schemes, millions will gather in Delhi for what he described as a historic rally led by Rahul Gandhi and the ‘India’ coalition. He claimed that those opposing the rally are affiliated with the BJP, which he believes is covertly supporting their actions.

Congress leader Bhai Jagatap mentioned that many attendees will travel from Madhya Pradesh, despite logistical challenges such as limited train services. He expressed confidence that large numbers would arrive to voice their rights in response to Gandhi’s call.

Rajendra Pal Gautam, another Congress leader, accused the BJP and its government of employing various tactics to deter participation. He highlighted the imposition of stringent conditions by the police, stating that the rally is expected to be unprecedented, with enthusiastic attendees coming at their own expense.

Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad supported the opposition’s stance, lamenting that the Election Commission and the government are undermining democracy in the country.

As the date approaches, the political landscape in Delhi is charged with anticipation and controversy surrounding the rally’s implications for the upcoming elections.
