Opposition Claims Rahul Gandhi Silenced in Parliament Over LPG Crisis

New Delhi, March 13: The opposition has claimed that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was not allowed to speak on the LPG crisis. In response, ruling party MPs stated that Gandhi was given time to address the issue but often strays from the topic.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal remarked that once again, the opposition leader has violated parliamentary rules. He noted that while Gandhi requested time to discuss the LPG shortage, he failed to address the seriousness of the matter. The Speaker has repeatedly emphasized the need to stay on topic, yet Gandhi appears uninterested in adhering to the rules, opting instead to raise baseless issues that could tarnish the country’s reputation. Goyal suggested that Gandhi might be working against national interests, possibly aligned with foreign agendas.

Minister Hardeep Puri elaborated, assuring citizens that the situation is under control and there is no need for panic. He criticized Congress MPs for their lack of seriousness in Parliament, highlighting their casual demeanor while discussing critical issues.

Minister Giriraj Singh added that Gandhi has decided not to improve his approach. He pointed out that while the opposition claimed they wanted to speak on LPG, their seriousness was lacking when given the opportunity. Singh accused Gandhi of deliberately creating situations that lead to conflict, reminding him that Parliament is not a platform for arbitrary statements.

BJP MP Ravi Kishan stated that the opposition aims to create panic, assuring that the government is vigilant and that the country is secure under Modi’s leadership. He urged the public to be cautious of Congress’s tactics.

BJP MP Deepak Prakash criticized Gandhi for lacking an understanding of democratic dignity, asserting that the public is well aware of his attempts to mislead them.

Congress MP Tariq Anwar countered that this issue is not new, claiming that whenever Gandhi speaks, his voice is suppressed. He insisted that the time requested was in accordance with parliamentary rules, yet his points were not allowed to be fully expressed.

Congress MP Kumari Selja echoed this sentiment, stating that it has become a recurring issue where the Leader of the Opposition is not permitted to speak.

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari emphasized the importance of symbolic protests in democracy, noting the rising LPG prices and the long lines for booking gas. He criticized Goyal for being out of touch with reality.

Congress MP Manoj Kumar questioned the government’s claims of no LPG issues, pointing out the booking problems and demanding accountability.

Congress MP K.C. Venugopal highlighted the energy crisis in the country, asserting that Gandhi has presented evidence regarding the situation. He insisted that no one can stop the truth from being spoken.

Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat remarked that while Parliament belongs to everyone, the microphone does not, indicating a bias in who gets to speak.

Congress MP Deepender Hooda stressed the seriousness of the issues raised, questioning the economic decisions being made and asserting that India, not America, should determine its oil purchases.

DMK MP Kanimozhi criticized the practice of silencing opposition leaders, pointing out the double standards in parliamentary procedures.

In conclusion, Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi reiterated that once again, the Leader of the Opposition was prevented from speaking, underscoring the allegations that prompted the government to face a no-confidence motion.
